Berg Brauerei Ulrich Zimmermann
Opened daily from 10.00 to midnight
Looking for a traditional brewery-restaurant with an outstanding beergarden surrounded by old appletrees? The BERG BREWERY in Ehingen-Berg ist actually celebrating 550 years of producing fine beers on the Swabian Alb. Owned by the family Zimmermann since 1757 they traditionally use only regional products there such as the famous „Ulrichsbier“ (the first name of the actual owner).
The restaurant offers a variety of typical Swabian dishes from Swabian-Alb-lentils (here called „Alblaisa“) with sausages and „Spätzle“ up to the traditional Swabian „Rostbraten“ with roasted potatoes and fried onions. Only here you find several dishes containing beer-ingredients such as „Bier-Gulasch“ or „Biertreber-Schnitzel“. You will be surprised by the lovely furnished interior of the rooms full of historical details reminding you of an museum of half a millenium of brewing tradition. Once in a while you can watch live brewing and enjoy the incredable smell of the roasted ingredients directly in the restaurant. A small shop in a sideroom offers nice gifts and all the different types of BERG beer, opened up to 10 p.m. In the beergarden outside you may enjoy your meals and drinks under old fruit trees why they call it a „farmer’s beergarden“.
